Tiril follows a bachelors program with a focus on life sciences

I like Venlo because Venlo is a great student city with lots of good cafés, restaurants, and shops. Additionally, the city center and train station are super close to the UCV campus!

My name is Tiril, I’m the oldest of 3, and 19 years old. I come from a small town in Norway, but I lived in the US before I moved to Venlo. My sister and I's favorite drink is chai latte (w/ oat milk), hence we named our dog Chai. My hobbies include cooking, eating, recipe developing, reading, traveling, and physical activity. I’m currently part of Maastricht University’s bachelors program here in Venlo: University College Venlo, with a focus on life sciences. I chose this program because I’ve always been interested in health and sustainability, but I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do in Uni, and here I get to combine all of my interests in one program and meet others who are interested in the same things. I also wanted it to be taught in English and the 28 studios on campus are so convenient, that way I didn’t have to look for somewhere else to live. Venlo is the only place that offers something like this, but I also wanted to be in a small city with a big international community. And it’s not too far away from Norway.

Furthermore i like Venlo because Venlo is a great student city with lots of good cafés, restaurants, and shops. Additionally, the city center and train station are super close to the UCV campus. Not to mention, all the bike lanes make it easy to get around and there are good vegan options both in the restaurants and grocery stores. My favorite places to go include the Maas, the nearby farmer’s market, and the big Albert Heijn. Usually I try to go on a walk along the Maas with my friends when the weather is good, or just spend time with my friends, or else I’m in the kitchen testing or coming up with new recipes.

Lastly, i would like to give you some tips. If you want one of the 28 studios on campus send an email saying you’re interested early on even if you’re not sure that you’ll end up coming here, because it’s first come first serve. That way you’re at least top 28 on the waiting list and if you chose to go somewhere else they can just remove you from the list. Next, don't forget to get involved in something from the very start, it's a great way to get to know new people.
