Emmaus Feniks
In a beautiful old Trappist monastery just outside of Tegelen you’ll find Emmaus Feniks. This organisation offers day care to people with a disability or a difficult home life. They have a huge thrift store where they collect and sell all kinds of stuff that are deserving of a second home.
Chairs, sofas, beds, lamps and all kinds of crockery; Emmaus Feniks will have you thrifting for hours. Added bonus, they have a cafetaria that serves coffee, soup or a complete meal since we all know that seeking for hidden vintage treasures makes for thirsty and hungry people!
Moveoo Snuffelmarkt
Welcome to the wonderful world of weird Dutch words because let’s be honest, how do you translate a word like ‘snuffelmarkt’? Moveoo is an organisation that home-collects stuff that deserves a second life in a new home. It is staffed with people who have a remove from the job market but are very happy to show you around and help where they can.
Word of advice, be sure to check if Moveoo Snuffelmarkt is open since they operate under irregular opening hours.
Kringloop Boerendans
If you drive onto Boerendansweg in Venlo you will find a thrift store that looks tiny from the outside but once you step inside it opens up into a second-hand store Valhalla. This store used to be a bakery but you wouldn’t know it now. Wander around and feast your eyes on rows and rows of household goods, electronics, furniture and crockery.
Filled to the brim but neatly organised and clean. Kringloop Boerendans is the place to be if you want to furnish your student room with unique and cool vintage finds.
