Arts and culture as far as the eye can see
In Venlo we will never tire of arts and culture. We are mighty proud of the tradition that is carnival (also known as ‘Vastelaovend’, just try and say that five times in a row!). With roots in the Christian festive season that kicks off Lent, carnival has grown into a five-day colourful and exuberant celebration where people dress up in the most elaborate costumes, walk and ride in parades, and sing, dance and drink in the streets, pubs and bars in and around Venlo.
As soon as Spring has sprung and the sun is out you can enjoy a (free) festival almost every weekend in Venlo, whether it’s based around music, food, drinks, arts, culture or all of the above. What can we say? We love a good party!
