Surroundings from Venlo - Baarlo

There are nice villages and other places around Venlo that are worth a visit. Take a look at Castle Village Baarlo.

Visit the castles of Baarlo or visit Maes21 for a lunch with a view of 'Mooder Maas', take a walk or enjoy the beauty of Baarlo from a terrace or visit Chateau the Raay for a lunch or dinner.

Kasteel de Berckt

Kasteel de Berckt is a castle located in Baarlo. It used to be a 16th century castle entirely in Renaissance style, but in 1830 it was rebuilt in the Neoclassical style. From 1901 to 1922, the castle was used as a monastery for an order of French Carmelite nuns. Until the second half of the 20th century, it housed several monastic orders. From 1995 the castle has become an event and congress center with possibilities to stay overnight.

Kasteelhoeve d'Erp

Castle d'Erp is located on the south side of the village. Previously, this castle was also called Huys Baarlo or the Borcht. The name d'Erp is taken from the last noble family who lived in the castle. The d'Erp family left the castle in 1914. In the meantime, the castle has been restored and the mayor of Maasbree also lived here for a while. The castle was sold in 1993 and now serves as a luxury holiday home.

Maes21

Maes21 is a special place located direct next to the Meuse, where you can eat & drink in a cozy, homely and hospitable atmosphere. Maes21 is located directly next to the Meuse and thus offers a fantastic view and directly overlooks 'Kloosterdorp Steyl' and the ferry. You can come here by bike from Steyl or Hout Blerick and take a moment of rest. They have a diverse menu with something for everyone, such as: toasted sandwiches, bouncers, salads and even more diverse dishes. Fun fact: Maes21 has its own vegetable garden. The kitchen uses vegetables, fruit and herbs from their own garden. That's going to be delicious!

Château De Raay

Château De Raay is another castle and dates back from the 13th century. It has now been transformed into a beautiful hotel with authentic ornaments still preserved. The hotel has a fantastic garden with a pond where you can completely relax. You can also enjoy delicious dishes from 'The Garden of the Baroness'. You can go there for lunch from 12.30 - 3.00 pm and for dinner from 6.00 - 9.30 pm.

PS Aero is a specialty museum focused on ex-military aircraft engines and parts. They have various airplanes, helicopters, simulators and parts available for rent or for sale.
