When you start living on your own no one tells you to eat your veggies because they too are eating rice for the third meal today. When you get tired of preparing the only two meals you know how to make, then it is time to learn new easy recipes.

Breakfast ideas


Pancakes!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups of milk
1 baking powder
A pinch of salt

Oil for the pan

Instructions:

1) In a bowl, mix the four, sugar, salt, and baking powder
2) Stir milk and eggs together
3) Mix the wet and dry ingredients together (preferably with a wire whisk)
4) Add a bit oil to the pan and let it warm up on medium heat
5) Pour the pancake mix on the pan (approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake)
6) Cook each side for 3-6 minutes, until they become slightly golden

Crepés!

Ingredients:

1 eggs
1/2 cup of flour
1 spoon of sugar
1 cup of milk
A pinch of salt

Oil for the pan

Instructions:

1) Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
2)Add a bit of oil to the pan and let it warm up on medium heat
3)Pour the crepe mix on the pan (approximately 1/4 cup) and slightly tilt the pan until the surface is covered with crepe mix
4)Cook the crepe on the first side until it slightly releases when you run a spatula around all the edges
5)Flip the crepe and continue to cook it on the second side until the golden spots form

Simple omelet

Ingredients:

2 eggs
1 spoon of milk
1 tea spoon of butter
A pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions:

1) Crack the eggs in a mixing bowl and beat them with a wire whisk or a fork until they turn a yellow color
2) Add the milk, salt and pepper and whisk a bit more
3) Heat the pan on the medium heat, add the butter and let it melt
4) Pour the egg mixture in the pan and don’t stir
5) When the omelet resembles a bright yellow pancake and it seems that it could easily slide around, flip it

Soft boiled eggs

This one is not much of a recipe, and more of tips and tricks when boiling eggs.

If you want a perfect soft-boiled egg, you should boil the egg for 3 minutes. Sometimes, it can happen that the egg will crack when you put it into boiling water, to avoid this, you should wash the egg in warm water before dipping it into boiling one to prevent the temperature shock.

French toast

Ingredients:

2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
4 slices of bread (you don’t need to use fresh bread for this)
A pinch of salt or sugar (depending if you want the sweet or salty version)

Oil for the frying

Instructions:

1) Crack the eggs in a mixing bowl and beat them with a wire whisk
2) Add the milk and salt/sugar
3) Heat the pan and put a bit of oil on it
4) Dunk bread slices in egg mixture (don’t soak, just quick dunk)
5) Place the bread on the pan and cook until golden brown, then flip and when the other side is golden brown that means it has been cooked enough

Banana chia pudding (Vegan)

Ingredients:
2 bananas
1/2 cup almond/coconut/soya milk
1/4 cup chia seeds

Instructions:

1) Mash the banana
2) Combine the banana with the rest of the ingredients in a bowl, whisk until well combined
3) Cover the bowl and place it in the fridge for 1 hour to firm up
